Art-Net

hero

Art-Net is a protocol for transmitting the lighting control protocol DMX512 and its extensions RDM (Remote Device Management) over Ethernet networks. Developed by Artistic Licence, Art-Net is designed to address the limitations of DMX512, particularly its restricted channel capacity, by taking advantage of the high bandwidth and scalability of Ethernet technology. This allows for the transmission of multiple DMX universes over a single network, making it an ideal choice for large-scale and complex lighting installations.Art-Net is widely used in stage, architectural, and entertainment lighting due to its ability to seamlessly integrate into existing Ethernet infrastructures, thereby reducing hardware requirements and simplifying network setups. It supports direct communication between lighting consoles, media servers, and other networked devices without the need for dedicated DMX interfaces. The protocol is compatible with a variety of lighting equipment and software, offering flexibility and interoperability across different manufacturers.
