QubiBox Compact

QubiBox

The Isolated Lighting Network.

A secure, managed bridge that physically isolates your show-critical lighting network from the venue's internet, while running QubiSet as a permanent appliance on it - live monitoring and history on the box itself, with remote access and alerting in development.

It runs QubiSet

QubiSet Network View

QubiSet is one workspace for discovering, configuring and supervising a mixed lighting network: Art-Net, sACN, RDM and RDMnet at the same time, across any manufacturer’s kit.

QubiBox is that software running as a permanent appliance on your network, instead of on a machine somebody has to remember to leave switched on. Everyone connects from a browser or the desktop app anywhere on the trusted LAN.

What QubiSet does

The hardware

Two enclosures, one device. The Compact is what pilot venues receive; the 19" rack version is planned for 2027.

QubiBox Compact

QubiBox Compact

Pilot device

This is the unit pilot venues receive. It sits between the lighting LAN and the house network and runs the same isolation as the rack enclosure will - the difference is the box, not the behaviour.

Enclosure
Fanless and palm-sized, for a comms cupboard, dimmer room or shelf
Network
Two 2.5 Gb ports: lighting LAN on one, house IT on the other
Local access
Browser or desktop app, unlimited clients, no per-seat licence
History
Stored on the box's own disk, not in a cloud
QubiBox Rack, front

QubiBox Rack

Planned for 2027

A 19" 1U enclosure for permanent installations and touring racks, planned to follow the Compact. Same device, rack ears and front-panel status instead of a desktop box. It is not part of the pilot and the specification is not fixed yet.

Two networks, one direction

QubiBox terminates both sides itself. Nothing routes between them.

Lighting LAN

Nodes, gateways, fixtures

  • Art-Net
  • sACN
  • RDM
  • RDMnet

QubiBox listens here and never transmits control data.

QubiBox

  • IP forwarding off
  • No bridging
  • No NAT
  • Nothing listening on the IT side

LAN on one sideWAN on the other

Remote access, when you want it

In development

Optional, and off until you switch it on. It is not a VPN and not a tunnel onto your lighting subnet.

House IT / Internet

Nothing leaves the building

Discovery, monitoring, dashboards and history keep running on site, and there is no inbound firewall rule to request.

QubiBox sits between the lighting LAN and the house network, with the connection to house IT under a switch that is off by default.

Alerting is planned too: configurable, sent by email, starting with a device dropping off the network and coming back.

Prototype: pilot partners wanted

Founding Venue Partner programme

QubiBox is a working prototype on its way to LEaT con 2026. We are looking for venues and touring crews to run it in the wild with us, and we’ll shape the finished product around what we learn together.

A pilot includes:

A QubiBox Compact unit
The pilot device. The 1U rack variant is planned for 2027.
Priority support
A direct line to the people building it, not a ticket queue.
Terms we work out with you
The programme is still taking shape, so nothing is fixed here. What a pilot involves on both sides is what the conversation is for.
Your data, exportable in open formats
Nothing you record is locked to us.

Tell us about your venue or setup. We'll contact you to arrange a pilot.

Which enclosure would you want in the end?

Pilots run on the Compact either way. Saying you want a rack is how we find out whether to build one.
